I have a group devoted to hysterectomy recovery weight loss and many are struggling with weight loss post-op. Nutrition is an important part of weight loss because no matter how much you exercise, it all comes down to what you’re putting in your body.
If you look up any article from a reputable source, most say that the 80% of your focus should be on your diet and 20% on your activity. That’s huge!
Many weight loss groups talk about keto diets, intermittent fasting, and the like. But if you don’t have a basic understanding of clean eating which includes eating good fats, the right carbs, understanding sweeteners and staying away from miracle weight loss foods, you’re really not going to see much of a change in your weight.
Similarly, trying a diet for a couple weeks isn’t going to see much results. You’ll need to stick to your new diet for 30+ days for your body to adjust to your new nutrition program – that includes how your body will digest and process everything from bowel movements to your metabolism. Think about how long your body takes to adjust to a new sleep pattern after traveling overseas, etc. If losing weight was that easy, there wouldn’t be a billion-dollar industry surrounding it, right?
I am not a proponent of brand-name dietary supplements that you buy from someone with a promotion code. In my opinion, that’s very dangerous since you don’t know what is in those pills. For more information, read this consumer warning from the FDA.
However, I do agree that one vitamin supplements make up for what you aren’t eating from your diet as everyone’s body processes different things – like over-the-counter multivitamins and the like like calcium, vitamin B, C and D, etc. Always read the labels!
Anyways, that’s why I decided to create a new Hysterectomy Recovery Nutrition Discussion Group for those who are actively interested in discussing and learning more about nutrition. I hope you’ll join us!
